Mercury Thermostat Disposal

Mercury is one of the most toxic and environmentally damaging elements we encounter in day to day use. Mercury pollution is a problem nation wide with many rivers and lakes subject to mercury fish advisories. People can get mercury exposure by eating contaminated fish.

Exposure also comes from contamination when thrown in the trash, where they might be crushed, incinerated or otherwise mismanaged in a way to cause airborne releases, after which mercury falls back to earth in rainwater. The Clean Air Foundation's, "Switch the Stat" program is a thermostat replacement and collection program in partnership with heating & cooling contractors and wholesalers across Ontario. This program provides a safe and responsible disposal option for older mercury-containing thermostats. Please feel free to drop off your mercury thermostat to our location for safe disposal.
